Excercise 3 - Part 1
Sounds:
Location #1 - Inside
For the ten minutes that I was sitting in my room, inside, I heard many things. I guess that's what you get for living wiht 8 other people. Sounds I heard were talking, laughter, music, footsteps, creaking, television, chairs moving, things dropping, coughing, beeping, sounds getting closer and farther away, knocking, and moving.
These sounds came from about 4-5 different people that were in the house around my room. The patterns I noticed were that after footsteps, came talking, and then after talking, came footsteps. Talking would usually following talking or laughter, and coughing interupts talking. Missed sounds that I noticed would include footsteps and movements.
Being with a bunch of people in a house makes a lot of sounds, and just sitting and listening provokes a lot more thank I would have guessed if I were out of the environment.
Location #2 - Outside
Sitting outside in my backyard, I did not hear as many noises as I did while I was indoors. The sounds I heard were footsteps, wind, birds, cars driving by, and distant talking. Being outdoors was a bit more predicable than indoors, but I did think it would be more constantly silent than it actually was. The more prominent sounds were the ones that were closer to me in distance.
There were no patterns that were very notable about being outside. Birds would chirp whenever, cars would drive by in no particular pattern. The only pattern was the pattern of the sounds that each foot as the person was walking.
I felt that I could hear more outside because of the open space and unlimited nature of the outdoors.
